ARCHES NATIONAL PARK

What a day!  America surely has some of the most spectacular landscape ever.  Over the last few days we’ve had mountains and desert, a lake that had no water (Silver Lake in the middle of a desert).  This a.m. we drove from Green River (early before it got too hot) and went to Moab – a nice small township – very touristy- but all done tastefully to fit in with the landscape – all the buildings the same color as the rocky landscape around.
The drive through the park is about 50 miles – including the side roads that go to viewing areas or trails.  It was hot.  And exceedingly beautiful, and rugged and weird all rolled into one.  I did try to read how it developed- over millions of years and something to do with a salt plateau that has pushed up etc, to create these huge mounds and rocky formations.  Really the best way to explain is to show with pictures, so I’ll do just that.
We’ve crossed the state line and are now in Rifle, Colorado.  Madam B has not made a boo-boo today, so pat on the electronic back for
Just a note, the pics don';t really show the size - some rock shapes are at least 20 stories high!

Onto the Castle Rock and extended family tomorrow.

  3. Amazing Pics Jane.
There is just something primitive and appealing about rocks. They are fascinating.
I'm so glad you and Neil are managing to cope with Madam B. LOL. I love hearing about her tantrums!
